John Goodnight se cruza con una diligencia atacada y acude al rescate de sus pasajeros, uno de los cuales es una bella mujer que puede o no, haber sido prisionera siendo transportada por un detective que no sobrevivió al ataque. Su viaje juntos los lleva a un barco fluvial de juego, donde Goodnight descubre su verdadera identidad.
