Tomb Raider: Las aventuras de Lara Croft (2018)

Forget about the previous Tomb Raider movies, this new iteration is a more rugged, grittier, and grounded take on the character. Starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, this rebooted version follows a reluctant and headstrong hero, rather than the over-the-top teenage dream of past years. The story follows Lara as she uncovers the truth about her missing father's work as an intrepid explorer, leading her to a mysterious island in the Devil's Sea where she faces off against a bad archaeologist, Mathias Vogel (Goggins). Though the plot is predictable and the dialogue is flawed, the movie is anchored by Vikander's tireless lead performance and it's one of the better video game adaptations out there. The movie's visual and musical elements are strong, but the ending is rushed and weak.

La historia sigue a Lara mientras descubre la verdad sobre el trabajo de su padre desaparecido como un explorador intrépido, llevándola a una isla misteriosa en el Mar del Diablo donde se enfrenta a un mal arqueólogo, Mathias Vogel (Goggins). Aunque la trama es predecible y el diálogo es defectuoso, la película está anclada en la incansable actuación principal de Vikander y es una de las mejores adaptaciones de videojuegos que existen. Los elementos visuales y musicales de la película son fuertes, pero el final es apresurado y débil.
