Three girls living in Los Angeles, CA in the 1980s found cult fame when they "accidentally" transitioned from models to B-movie actresses, coinciding with the major direct-to-video horror film boom of the era. Known as "The Terrifying Trio," Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead), Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre) and Michelle Bauer (The Tomb), headlined upwards of ten films per year, fending off men in rubber monster suits, pubescent teenage boys, and deadly showers. They joined together in campy cult films like Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-Rama (1988) and Nightmare Sisters (1987). They traveled all over the world, met President Reagan, and built mini-empires of trading cards, comic books, and model kits. Then it all came crashing down. Uno de mis más preciados elementos patrimoniales -al menos en términos de valor sentimental- es un VHS original de “La Señora Doubtfire”. Sí, puede que debiera visitar a un psicoanalista, o tomarme unas prolongadas vacaciones. Pero el caso es que si hacemos caso al proverbio “mal de muchos, consuelo de tontos”, el tonto que les habla ha encontrado en “Rewind This!”, un redentor oasis documental. Con constantes referencias visuales al VHS, “Rewind This!” es un exhaustivo, instructivo, nostálgico y divertido repaso a la historia del vídeo. Y a la influencia que éste tuvo sobre el proceso productivo cinematográfico. Lástima que su ritmo narrativo -demasiado vivaz-, dificulte la absorción de buena parte de la información transmitida.
En los años sesenta, el cineasta sueco Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007) construyó una casa en la remota isla de Fårö, situada en el mar Báltico, dejó Estocolmo y se fue a vivir allí. Cuando murió, la casa fue conservada. Un grupo de cinéfilos muy especial, llegado de todo el mundo, viaja a Fårö en busca del genio y su legado.
