Gran despliegue y entretenimiento en esta película bélica - prepocalíptica con viajes en el tiempo, algunos planteos interesantes que no explota del todo, varias referencias a filmes previos del género y el sempiterno eje puesto en el núcleo familiar.

Reseña.
En el año 2052 la humanidad libra un batalla desigual y desesperada contra voraces invasores alienígenas. A través de una ventana temporal que logra establecerse con el 2022, son enviados pelotones desde el presente para participar durante un cierto periodo de tiempo en esa contienda. En uno de ellos es reclutado Dan Forester (Chris Pratt), quien, luego de un breve entrenamiento, se pone inmediatamente al frente de una misión bajo las órdenes de una coronel interpretada por Yvonne Strahovski.
Sí: es otra película sobre viajes en el tiempo, bélica y pre apocalíptica y con varias referencias a filmes previos del género (que no revelaré para no spoilear). Su desarrollo podría dividirse en tres partes: la primera, un vistazo a la vida familiar de Forester, con su esposa e hija y algún conflicto familiar que desemboca rápidamente en el reclutamiento y entrenamiento del protagonista; la segunda, la misión en el futuro y la tercera, las derivaciones de esa misión.
En cuanto al viaje en el tiempo, la película de Chris McKay hace algunas aclaraciones (y prevenciones) al respecto, que como siempre, suelen ser insuficientes en esta temática. En todo caso, podría decirse que no explota del todo las paradojas y hasta las inconsistencias que el guion propone. Como muchas otras de su género, orbita en torno a la preservación o restauración del núcleo familiar, con la obsesión norteamericana con la figura paterna en el centro. Uno de los aciertos del film es su caracterización del periodo de entrenamiento, que luce peculiar, urgente y como improvisado.
La producción es apabullante, y se alterna lo íntimo con escenas de acción con enfrentamientos librados en diferentes escalas y escenarios, desde acciones comando hasta batallas masivas. Las criaturas alienígenas son espantosas y logran presencia física. La musicalización no agobia.
Pratt es un actor ideal para encarnar a un personaje que “hace lo que hay que hacer” lo mejor que puede, a la vez sensible y resuelto, mientras que Strahovski también es la indicada para una científica y militar de alto rango distante, fría y melancólica que sabe que está jugando sus cartas decisivas. Ambos conforman un vínculo que desarrollado de otra manera… habría dado origen a otra película.

In the year 2052, humanity fights an unequal and desperate battle against voracious alien invaders. Through a time window that is established with 2022, platoons are sent from the present to participate for a certain period of time in that contest. In one of them Dan Forester (Chris Pratt) is recruited, who, after training, immediately puts himself in charge of a mission under the orders of a colonel played by Yvonne Strahovski.
Yes: it is another film about time travel, warlike and pre-apocalyptic and with several references to previous films (which I will not reveal so as not to spoil). His development could be divided into three parts: the first, a look at Forester's family life, with his wife and his daughter, and some family conflict that quickly led to the recruitment and training of the protagonist; the second, the mission in the future and the third, the derivations of that mission.
Regarding time travel, Chris McKay's film makes some clarifications in this regard, which, as always, are usually insufficient on this subject. In any case, it could be said that it does not fully exploit the paradoxes and even the inconsistencies that the script proposes. Like many others of its kind, it orbits in terms of the preservation or restoration of the family nucleus, with the North American obsession with the father figure at the center. One of the successes of the film is its characterization of the training period, which looks peculiar, urgent and improvised.
The production is overwhelming, and the intimacy alternates with action scenes with confrontations fought on different scales and settings, from commando actions to massive battles. Alien creatures are hideous and achieve physical presence. The musicalization does not overwhelm.
Pratt is an ideal actor to play a character who “does what needs to be done” to the best of his ability, both sensitive and determined, while Strahovski is also the one for a distant and cool high ranking scientist and military officer who knows she is playing her decisive cards. Both make up a bond that developed differently ... would have given rise to another film.
